I am planning to travel from Budapest to vienna on the train- will I need a visa or any special travel documen
I will be flying from UK to Budapest for 4 days and then going on the train from Budapest to Vienna for 4 days and flying back to UK from Vienna. I read that when travelling by train from Bud to Vie 'papers' need to be in order but i do not know what this means?!!

- It depends what type of passport you hold. If uk, then usually no problems. But if you are from another country, may have problems. I would check with both embassies - budapest, and austria (vienna) just to be on the safe side. The security checks on the train can be quite harsh if you dont have correct documents.
- just your passport, or if you are E.U. then maybe just a drives license, but I would have a passport to be sure
- your passport is enough
- If you are a citizen of the EU, then a valid I.D. card should be enough. Although I would still rather take a passport instead. No visas are necessary if you're an EU, US or Canadian citizen. Just make sure that your passport is valid at least another 6 months AFTER you plan to leave Hungary. This is a rule more and more countries are starting to adopt. Just to be on the safe side, I would call the embassies in your country and ask them. That's what they're there for!
