R there any special procedures available for anyone wanting to travel with a hunting bow and knife via airport
I’ll be travelling to Africa soon, for about 3 months. I want to purchase a hunting knife from the USA and take it with me; Africa is where I want to end up in, not in a prison for terrorists. So my question is, are there any special procedures open to travellers to do this? You know something like having the knife and bow in a locked case and having it checked in and giving the keys to the pilot or cabin crew. I am actually travelling from the UK not the USA.

- It will definitely have to be in checked baggage! Depending on the airline, they may ask you to deliver it to the cargo area instead of bringing it to the terminal. Call the airline and ask for their rules. Whatever you do, DON'T turn up at the terminal without having told the airline in advance that you will be bringing weapons for checking in!
- Put the items in your checked baggage. they ar not allowed through security. Please see www.TSA.gov for the list of TSA prohibited items. I would recommend keeping the keys with you to prevent possible theft of the items.
- it has to be in checked in luggage and the pilot or cabin crew will NOT take any keys or anything off a passenger.its for security reasons they wont
